Newsflash! Overpriced Wireless is SHADY, no shocker there. In this blog we're sharing two ways customers get trapped into spending more than they need to with these greedy providers (and how Mint and other providers are doing things differently).

They lure customers into long contracts with "free" phones

Spoiler alert: they aren't free.

Overpriced Wireless knows people love new phones. That’s why they’re always pushing people into a new device, even if the one they have is perfectly fine, it's ridiculous! Financing a new phone means they get to keep the customer’s device locked to their network…and an inflated wireless plan, for years. And if customers want to switch carriers, they often have to pay the remaining cost of the phone and, in some cases, an early termination fee. You might be thinking “more fees?!” Yes, more fees ugh.

A simple comparison shows that it’s usually more affordable just to buy the phone outright and have an affordable wireless plan, like one from Mint, for, say, $15/month. But the big carriers don’t want you to know that.

They Bundle additional services with plans.

Overpriced Wireless also knows people love streaming services, and tries to make it seem like they’re tossing in additional services as “free” when in reality, the cost of their plan + the streaming services is, again, way higher than what the customer would pay different providers and have whatever streaming services separately. Bundling makes it seem like the customer is getting something for free, when really, they’re paying for it through the nose.

Switching to Mint could save you enough money to add on any additional services or subscriptions you want. Right now they’re offering new customers who purchase a 3-month plan a second plan for FREE when they port-in from Verizon or AT&T. The offer is live for a limited time only - so what are you waiting for?

But that’s not all. Mints Buy 6, Get 6 device offer is still going strong as well. Anyone who buys an eligible device + a 6-month plan gets an additional 6 months of service at no extra cost.
